Abstract

This paper will show how advanced and innovative traffic and pollution management systems could create jobs balancing economic growth and ecological needs at the same time. The authors will give some examples how many jobs this service sector already created and show, why advanced toll collection on inter-urban and urban road networks is an ideal base to guarantee economic growth and public health (ecology). The authors will then summarizeour considerations by suggesting a standardized measurement procedure to estimate fuel consumption and pollution within a local road network which can be used as starting point for CO2 reduction and stimulated economic growth.
