Abstract

The metropolitan (Khartoum) population has been growing at a very high rate and traffic and public transport facilities have been growing at an insignificant rate and in a haphazard manner. This situation has contributed greatly to the creation of chronic, acute and urgent traffic and transport problems. This study outlines the salient features and causes of the problems and recommends some policy measures which are deemed feasible and effective.
