Abstract

The Australian Road Research Board gave a focus to road research in Australia. A large part of which has been devoted to traffic and transportation, and also provided a framework for the very necessary symbiosis between practitioners and researchers, which is the basis of the most effective research in roading. It also enabled Australian engineers to work out their own indigenous solutions to Australian problems instead of simply following trends in overseas countries.
