Abstract

West Nippon Expressway Company Limited (NEXCO West) is constructing the new network of expressways in Kansai region, Japan. As a result, drivers can select many routes to go to the destination. The network-advanced expressway will have difficulty to supply information that drivers can select the route which drivers take shorter time. NEXCO West is trying to use the data of DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communication) as route records of drivers from entrance to exit of expressways. The DSRC antennas for the route information collecting were installed. The authors describe how drivers' data can be received from the antennas that the drivers pass through the points. On this research report, this paper is going to introduce the systemto figure out drivers’ traffic characteristics.
