Abstract

Using section based detection systems, like floating car systems, is an eligible option to complement classical cross section detection. A better spatial and temporal data availability will be obtained. There is the possibility to reconstruct driven routes highly detailed, if capturing intervals are very short, like realized in Dresden operational traffic management system VAMOS. There is a taxi fleet capturing data every five seconds added by extra records for stops and driveaways. No path estimation proceduressupplementing map matching are necessary. Further there is the ability toanalyze driving characteristics with high precision. Stop-and-go, trafficjams as well as tailbacks can be identified very exactly.
