Abstract

The quick development of microprocessors allows to anticipate their use in the adaptive control of traffic lights. A study has been undertaken in France, in order to evaluate the advantages which could be provided by such a control and especially by the possibility of choosing different adaptive algorithms according traffic conditions. A minicomputer has been installed on four intersections, and four algorithms are experimented.
