Abstract

This study on sign effectiveness offers guidance in improving worker protection. The authors indicate that orange signs are slightly more effective than yellow signs but, significantly, they emphasize the importance of new or well-maintained signs in attracting the attention of motorists. A trip by automobile across the U.S.A. indicates that more attention should be given to improving the appearance of signs in daily use.
