Abstract

In an effort to develop traffic controls for the combination useof reversible flow and 2-way left turn lanes, a study was made in which past and present reversible flow 2-way left-turn lane (rf2wltl)sites were reviewed, driver information requirements were determined, and candidate rf2wltl traffic controls were developed and tested in the laboratory. Details of this study are described, and the results, which have been used by the federal highway administration to propose changes to the manual on uniform traffic control devices, arediscussed.
