Abstract

Despite relatively few traffic congestion problems in Finland, there is still a need for cost efficient traffic data for management, planning and for the information service purposes. A group of Finnish companies covering the whole value chain has developed solutions to collect traffic data from taxis, to combine data from various sources and to provide traffic information services for end users, taxi drivers and transport authorities. The technology is transferable and ready to be taken into use elsewhere. Open interfaces enable flexible development and ways of action as well as business opportunities and competition on the whole value chain. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
