Abstract

The paper is divided into five points: (1) a brief description of the historical development of the city of Naples and its road network (2) an outline of the actual public railway and road transport system: (3) a "macrozoning" for the city with the main characteristics of these macrozones: (4) the description of two traffic engineering experiments recently carried out within the City Council area; (5) an analysis of the main current transport problems.
