Abstract

The interaction between cars of three different speeds is modelled as random obstacles on a long circular road. The formation of queues and gaps and their distributions is studied through simulations in a simplified model. Distributions rather close to geometrical for queue lengths and to exponential for gaps are observed, but with some overdisperion. Some rather weak correlations between gaps and queues are also found.
