Abstract

ALTHOUGH CONSIDERABLE STATISTICAL DATA IS RECORDED BY HEALTH AUTHORITIES IN THE COURSE OF NORMAL ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES, LITTLE INFORMATION HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN AVAILABLE ON MOVEMENT PATTERNS TO AND FROM A MAJOR HOSPITAL IN A TYPICAL AUSTRALIAN URBAN LOCATION. SURVEYS WERE CONDUCTED AT SEVERAL HOSPITALS TO DETERMINE BASIC TRIP GENERATION AND PARKING DEMAND FIGURES. THESE WERE OBTAINED BY CATEGORIES, TIME OF DAY, AND DAY OF WEEK, TOGETHER WITH EXAMINATION OF MODAL SPLIT. THE RESULTING PARAMETERS ARE SUITABLE FOR ESTIMATING TRAFFIC GENERATION AND PARKING REQUIREMENTS AT THE PLANNING STAGE OF A PROJECT. (A). FOR THE COVERING ABSTRACT OF THE CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS SEE IRRD ABSTRACT NO. 226354.
