Abstract

Field tests currently being carried out in West Berlin to evaluate the effects upon safety and fuel consumption of the LISB (Leit und Informations System Berlin) and TRANSLISB (Berlin Transport guidance and information system) systems are described. Emphasis is placed on the design of the systems and the networks covered by them. Lisb covers the entire main roads network in Berlin, with 240 out of the 1200 signal controlled junctions being fitted with beacons.
