Abstract

Traffic and transport information in the internet faces big growth rates. For the German state Northrhine-Westfalia, there are today more than 2400 traffic related web addresses available. Therefore, the state ministry of transport decided to create a web portal that presents all available information for the state (and beyond) under one comprehensive user interface under the overall address www.verkehrsinfo.nrw.de. The system provides different forms of access, it presents for example all 396 municipalities on lists and maps. After choosing the city of interest, the system generates from a database a list with all information available for that city from different providers ordered by traffic mode. The user needs only to "click" on the topic he needs and is linked to the related website. The paper describes the system capabilities, the technical solution and the user reaction.
