Abstract

The history of British legislation directed against dribvers who have recently been drinking alcohol is revieuwed. The evidence which led to thelegal limit of 80 mg’100 ml being prescribed by the Road Safety Act, 1967, is outlined. The administration and enforcement of the law are also described.
