Abstract

The history of traffic law enforcement in Australia is traced, drawing on overseas examples and predicting possible future developments. Emphasis is placed on enforcement issues and strategies thought necessary to contain traffic problems in residential areas, to counter the drinking driver and the driver who speeds and who "beats the red" traffic signal.
