This paper describes an example of traffic management to be considered within the TERN architecture. The CIT II system is used in Spain both for traffic management and driver information, and it is managed by Direccion General de Trafico (D.G.T.), Ministry of Interior. The CIT II system connects all traffic control centres in Spain providing real-time monitoring of road network state. The territorial and functional organisation is analysed with special emphasis on traffic information provision (Audiotex, Teletext, radio, television). Recent developments and plans for RDS-TMC use are also described. (A)
