Abstract

This article describes the procedure used by the PALOMAR (PAris, LyOn, MARseilles) operation set up to manage the July and August seasonal traffic peaks on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille corridor. Its aim is to provide a real time traffic management and information system. The types of operation provided are listed. These include: a) access control; b) motorway network management; c) traffic control at toll stations; and d) traffic information. A chart illustrates the road network covered by PALOMAR.
