Abstract

The object Nordsydaxeln consists of a 1600 m long tunnel and several bridges with a total length of 1900 m. Several ramps are connecting to the tunnel and the bridges from the surrounding streets. Nordsydaxeln is connecting the south of Stockholm with the center of the City and is a very important part of the road system. It is in fact one of the routes with the mostintensive traffic in the whole of Stockholm. A traffic management system, called MCS, will be implemented on the Nordsydaxeln through Stockholm. The system aims to have positive effects for the environment, the traffic security and the accessibility. This paper describes functionality, design and effects of the system.
