Abstract

After the completion of a national toll collection system with predominantly automatic tolling on its motorways, Turkey has begun the implementation of a national traffic management system (TMS) to increase the service quality. The system which will be integrated with the existing toll collection system is being installed in two segments on the national network with the first segment being fully operational by the first quarter of 2007. The Turkish TMS concept and some important features are described. For the covering abstract see E134653
