Abstract

To alleviate traffic congestion, the Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation (MEPC) in Tokyo has been not only pushing forward the construction for adequate equipment of its road networks but also expanding its computerized traffic control system. In addition, the MEPC has developed new information provision mediums such as MEX-i system and automatic reply telephone to meet the diversified needs of the expressway users for information provision.
