Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the modelling and simulation of traffic. Some of the specific topics covered in the abstracts include traffic assignment models, modelling of traffic on intelligent highway systems, car-following models, modelling the effects of various traffic measures (for example, the effect of high occupancy vehicle lanes, junction design and use of flared lanes, modelling of traffic signals and queuing traffic, traffic congestion modelling, and modelling of the ways in which drivers respond to congestion (for example, by trip rescheduling and peak spreading). These items have been selected from the material added to the TRL Library Database between 1999 and 2002. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
