Traffic monitoring and incident detection update (1997-2000).

This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the monitoring of traffic flows and the detection of incidents on urban arterials and motorway systems. Topics covered include driver warning systems, queue detection and measurement, detector loops, sensors, algorithms, artificial neural networks (ANNs), image processing systems and video detection technology. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1997-2000. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
