Abstract

A unique system of vehicular traffic control, the traffic pacer system, was compared experimentally with a progressive and a non-interconnected traffic system in a typical suburban location. The pacer system showed a significant improvement over the other systems for almost all of the performance criteria. Further research is suggested and implications are made with respect to the pacer system's control and acceptance on present and future highways.
