Abstract

Over the 15 months of testing, results indicated that the pacer system significantly decreased the number of stops when compared with 2 conventionally used systems of traffic control. although increases in intersection capacity were observed during the operation of the pacer system, the hypothesized 2-car-per-lane-per-cycle increase was not realized.
