Abstract

This paper describes traffic safety trends in Canada, Canadian safety research, and applications within the Federal government. Specific initiatives such as improved occupant protection and daytime running lights (DRL) are used to illustrate both the breadth and depth of present and future studies. It is suggested that continued advances in traffic safety will require greater emphasis on the ergonomic aspects of automotive technologies. (A)
