Abstract

In this paper, traffic safety programmes in Japan for young people are discussed. The aims are highlighted: (1) to give children the opportunity to learn what is needed to make them safe on the roads; and (2) to teach concepts to enable them in the future to be safe drivers. In this paper, information is provided on: (i) trends in juvenile traffic accidents; (ii) traffic safety education at traffic safety clubs for infants, school children; (iii) traffic safety education at traffic parks; and (iv) a plan to establish a traffic park by the Central Training Institute for Safe Driving. The french title of this paper is, `Introduction au problem : programme educatif'. The german title of this paper is `Einführung des Problems : Entziehungs Programm'.
