Abstract

This fact sheet contains estimates of driver alcohol involvement in fatal crashes for the United States and individually for the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Estimates for Puerto Rico are not included in the national estimates. The most recent data available (2016) and data from 10 years ago (2007) are presented for comparison. These estimates are based on data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). In this fact sheet, the 2007 and 2016 State alcohol-impaired-driving estimates are presented as follows: * Definitions and explanations * Missing FARS alcohol data * State-by-state data tables.
