Abstract

This paper discusses the problem of traffic safety in Czechoslovakia. The transport development in relation to traffic safety, number of accident injuries and fatalities and safety policies for infrastructure are described. Needs for improvements in transport organization and transport network, increasing of quality of road pavements and their facilities, technical state of vehicles and improvement of education of transport participants are discussed. The paper is supported by accident statistics.
