Abstract

Freedom of traffic movement is related to traffic flow characteristics for the different roads in an network. This paper describes the characteristics and consequent levels of traffic service on the motorways, rural and urban expressways, primary roads and central city street of the Christchurch road network. Typical road cross sections and planned intersections are illustrated.
