Abstract

It cannot be stressed too strongly that sufficient engineering time should be spent on the layout of the signal indications if they are to be readily seen under all traffic and weather conditions by both motorists and pedestrians and if accidents are to be held to a minimum. A series of self-explanatory diagrams and tables, with illustrative sketches, brings out the evolution of the visibility of signals.
