Abstract

The history of traffic sign standardization in Great Britain is discussed. Several important principles for symbol signs are noted. The opinion that the octagon stop sign shape is better than a red triangle is stressed. It is pleaded to develop and implement an international system for sign symbology. A discussion is added.
