Abstract

This volume covers the UK official detailed guidance on traffic safety measures and signs for road works and temporary situations. It is intended for those responsible for planning, managing and participating in operations to implement, maintain and remove temporary traffic management arrangements. The sections include: introduction and general considerations; operational issues; signing and road marking issues; general vehicle issues; workforce issues; incident management; single vehicle works and inspection stops; convoy working; mobile lane closure technique; and mobile carriageway closure technique. The appendices include: tables, a glossary, references and miscellaneous (specification for builders' skips, specification for an automatic braking system, and assessment of condition of traffic signs) .
