Abstract

Traffic simulation is a powerful tool to help transportation professionals reach key decisions about the planning and design of roadway facilities and traffic signal systems. This article examines traffic simulation procedures in great detail, and highlights key methods applied in a recent simulation project in downtown Washington, DC.
