Abstract

The survey was undertaken at 1300 sites representative of all classes of road and all part of the country. Short traffic counts were made at each site during the period September 1966 to May 1967. The results of these counts were scaled to represent the average traffic flow per day at each site during 1966. These flows were then combined in various ways to provide estimates of the vehicle distance travelled on different classes of road in each Ministry of Transport division.
