The purpose of these surveys was to investigate the effects, if any, of the traffic week on traffic knowledge of the whole population and of schoolchildren, the role of various communication media, participation in the educational events, effect on actual traffic behaviour of drivers and pedestrians, etc. The traffic knowledge measurements concerning the whole population were made a month before the traffic week, during the traffic week, the week after, and two months later. The traffic knowledge of schoolchildren was measured the week before, during, the traffic week, and the week after.
