Abstract

An experiment, which divided the core area of the city Gothenburg, Sweden, into five sectors and prohibited the movement of privately owned vehicles and certain other traffic from passing one zone to another, is described. The proscription and the attendant provision of parking on the periphery of the core have resulted in interesting and beneficial alterations of the traffic pattern.
