Based on an analysis of the Swedish driver instruction and its problems and possibilities, the following is suggested: (1) experimental work testing a model where driving school training and private training will be integrated systematically and consequently support each other pedagogically; (2) letting the theoretical part of the licensing test be carried out by driving schools; (3) analysis of the conditions for the introduction of driver training in two phases in Sweden as was done in Norway; (4) a beginner's sign on the car which will be compulsory during the first two years for new licence holders.
