Abstract

The philosophy behind the `Train-the-Trainer-in-Traffic-safety' (TTT) approach is that traffic safety education can be best improved by maintaining and increasing its links with the traffic safety (non-)governmental organisations. Together with top representatives of the traffic safety (non-)governmental organisations as well as traffic safety education, the idea is to create a consensus on what to know and how to teach this. The first, and important part of this project will focus on the creation of a general agreement and an action plan. This will be achieved by two working groups and a steering committee. The second part of the project will focus on the implementation of the results of the working groups through training and counselling sessions. The proposed training programme will have two target groups: (1) teachers who are or will be teaching traffic safety; and (2) traffic safety (non-)governmental organisations' professionals. Through sharing educational experiences, the TTT approach aim is to assist in shaping and catalysing changes towards a more market-oriented educational system and more market-oriented (non-)governmental organisations in Poland. Throughout the project special attention will be given to the cultural and mentality differences that exist between the people from the former "West" and the former "East" block. (A)
