Abstract

The Trans-European North-South Motorway will link the Baltic, Adriatic, Aegean and Black Seas with a fast, safe and efficient system of motorways stretching some 10.000 kilometres in all. To the east and south the motorway will open up links with the road systems of Asia and Africa. The advantages that the TEM will bring are significant for the economic and social development of the European region and are in line both with the aims of the Economic Commission for Europe and the conclusions of the Conference on Security for Europe and Co-operation in Europe. The 10 participating countries are Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Yugoslavia.
