Abstract

This paper presents the technical details of the processing that takes place on the lane side of the OGS system developed by ASELSAN for Electronic Toll Collection on Turkish highways. In particular, processes pertaining to toll transactions, automatic vehicle classification and enforcement against violations have been described. The paper also presents application specific details such as vehicle classification scheme required by the Turkish Highway Authority, transactions between the Road Side Unit and On Board Units and design considerations associated with the video based enforcement.
