Abstract

TRANSINPOL is a strategic transport research project which addresses the integration of information, communication, navigation and payment systems, services and technologies in transport, within a short-term and a long-term perspective. The overall aim of TRANSINPOL is to provide policy information about the integration of the mentioned systems and technologies, which can be used by EU policy makers to develop the Common Transport Policy, in order to pursue the Common Transport Policy goals as well as the general EU goal of improving the competitiveness of European industry. Policy information is provided by means of "policy requirements" for which two main types have been defined, according to the type of integration under consideration (system integration or market segment integration).
