Abstract

To promote greater use of transit buses as solutions to many social issues, it is essential to provide dynamic bus operation information and demand-responsive bus service to users anywhere and in any situations, which substantially improves users' convenience of bus service and eventually decreases service cost. Association of Electronic Technology for Automobile Traffic and Driving (JSK) realised such services by a simple system with ITS technology and proved its feasibility by an operational test on real bus lines. As a result, it was proved that such a system can be constructed at low cost from a general platform with extendibility and satisfies both users and operation companies. The investigation shows usefulness of such system increases and usage of users is advanced as personal information equipment is spreading.
