Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2034 includes 15 papers that explore the impact of weather on transit ridership, video transit training for older travelers, determinants of perceptions of bus and train safety, market support for new products and services for transit and walking, the Metro Orange Line (Los Angeles County, California) bus rapid transit project, and the TransMilenio (Bogota, Colombia) bus rapid transit system. This issue of the TRR also examines service reliability and optimal running time schedules, bus arrival time prediction using Global Positioning System, bus stop spacing analysis using geographic information system tools, simulation of bus signal priority strategy, an evaluation of transit signal priority and optimal signal timing plans, bus priority lanes as a countermeasure for congestion, quantifying the technical efficiency of paratransit systems, measuring demand management impacts in a sustainable compliance environment for the Americans with Disabilities Act, and negative experiences and user loyalty in paratransit.
