Abstract

Traffic management (TM) has come a long way over the past years. However, several problems inhibit further development of traffic management and the large-scale implementation of successful pilot projects with innovative TM solutions. Given the still increasing mobility and its undesirable side-effects (traffic safety, environmental issues) a transition towards sustainable traffic management is highly desirable. The TRANSUMO project TRADUVEM was initiated to bring together traffic and transition management stakeholders to further elaborate the concept of sustainable TM. This paper discusses transition management and the activities in the TRADUVEM project that aim to contribute to a transition towards sustainable traffic management.
