It indicates various elements of the impact of infrastructure on the private sector. Topics discussed include: (1) some theoretical ideas on infrastructure and regional development; (2) some studies which focus on the impact of transport infrastructure on productivity in regions; (3) a review of studies which consider the role of transport infrastructure as a location factor, influencing the location of private investment or employment; (4) approaches using an integrated analysis of the productivity and relocation effects of transport infrastructure on regional development. Finally, some concluding remarks and comments are made.
