Abstract

In a project concerning the transport of dangerous goods - chemicals, oil products etc - a model has been developed for the estimation of the probability that a given truck will have a serious accident during a trip along a given route in a highway network. Results show that accident density is not a linear function of flow and that truck accidents are not proportional to the percentage of trucks. The model handles both road sections and intersections.
