Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 90 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the personal mobility of the elderly and disabled, both in the UK and across the world. Articles are included covering such subjects as accessibility of public transport, buses, trains, railway stations and shops. Other subjects include parking provision and design, wheelchair access, and public transport concessionary fares for the elderly. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1995 and 1999. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1991-1993 can be found in the previous issue of this title (Current Topics in Transport 22). Abstracts for the years 1993-1995 can be found in the previous issue of this title (Current Topics in Transport 22.1 (C 6659 S).
