Transport policies in the European Union update (1996-1998).

This issue of Current Topics includes over 95 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on recent developments in member countries resulting from the common transport policy of the European Union. Amongst these are the Trans European Networks (TENs) for motorways, combined (multimodal) freight transport, and high speed trains. Other subjects covered include urban transport initiatives, air transport, policies to control the environmental impacts of transport, and applications of transport telematics. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1996 and 1998. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
