Abstract

A programme of research is being undertaken, studying transport problems of the poorer sections of the population in cities in a number of developing countries.this report describes the results of one of these studies conducted in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Surveys of travel habits and attitudes were undertaken and the results were used to provide information on modal choice, trip purpose and expenditure on transport of squatter and other low income communities within the city.
